Hey all having an algae problem.
80,000L inground with sand filter
Cl

My water turned green all of a sudden last week when temperature skyrocketed and Cl dropped to 0. So added Cl liquid and 5 pucks. Got FC back up to 5 and total up to 5. Next day no change. I have since added liquid Cl twice and FC is above 10 and TC is above 10 and algae actually looks worse today.
PH was around 7 when I first noticed the Cl drop.

But anyways I have very high chlorine and the green is getting even darker. What should I do?

I use Hach strips to test and stabilizer is within range. I can’t get a full test kit any time soon.

That is yet to be determined based on your CYA and referencing the FC/CYA Levels. If you click on the SLAM tab, you'll see you are probably much too low to be effective against algae. The proper test kit is a must to test FC at levels above 10 and perform the SLAM Process. Accuracy is the name of the game. Test strips simply won't do that for you. See more at our Pool Care Basics page.

Welcome to TFP!

Welcome!

Getting a recommended test kit in Canada can be a challenge. Check out the following link and scroll down to "Obtaining Test Kits Outside the United States."

Best wishes!
