Hello everyone! I’m not a new pool owner but feel like one since my pool contractor left me high and dry after they put in our concrete pool 5 years ago. I am 50 yrs old now the father of 3 boys and a girl. We decided to go with putting a pool in after experiencing our neighbors pool several times. We have a community pool and in all reality with my pool frustrations I wish we would have held off on doing this project. I ended up having a heart attack at 46 which was a big blow for me and has added all kind of health issues for me now. I was an active runner who ran every day and did half-marathons all the time. After dealing with the the past 5 years and being let down by my pool contractor my stress levels rise easily when I run into pool issues. This summer was the most frustrating for me. I live in OHIO and this was the 1st year where we had 90+ degree weather and my salt cell could not keep up and I had to constantly shock my pool and use Chlorine 3” pucks. I never had to do that in the past. I was never given a clear understanding of how to upkeep my water by our pool company so this past summer I found some online resources and I have a local store that has some great employees who help me with testing my water by just taking a sample to them and they guide me on what I need. I finally was able to get things going (I think) late July and we enjoyed the summer. My Salt Cell I think may need replaced soon but since we just closed our pool I will deal with it in the Spring if needed. I’m also starting to see these tiny black spots appear on my steps, in corners and a little bit of discoloring on the floor. I can’t deal with these issues now and the company that closed my pool didn’t really give me any feedback of what they saw when closing it. I am really looking to get educated with this group and hopefully in the future spring I’ll be able to reach out to you all for advise. Take care everyone and have a great winter!
