Intro/Outside Advice

I have not used any pool store products other than acid and granular chlorine. Never used any of the magic chemicals that they like to push.
You also mentioned copper algaecide and maybe the pool company added some products, so I thought maybe there was a chance some other products were added, but sounds like that is not the problem.

How is the fight going?

If you can bump up to 4x’s a day with dosing that will help.
Maybe try to get in early am, you’re covered mid day with the gf, then immediately after work & right before bed. When the weekend/off day comes hit it hard - every couple hours.
Although I can’t see your logs it sounds like fc is holding a little better. Coming back to 16 is better than 8 like it was.

That's true, I did add that. And also possibly true of other things in there. Fight I think is getting easier? Looks like I can see a glimpse of the main drain this morning, so we're clearing up.

Unfortunately I don't get home until late, which is part of the reason I wanted a pool service. Mostly the only chance lately that I get to see my pool in the light of day, is on the weekend.
Fc is holding a bit better for sure, but still sizeable losses overnight.

FC 13ppm, CC 0.5ppm this morning. Adding 3 gallons. I did test/add last night but forgot to report here. Added 3 gallons last night as well.

I've neglected to post here due to a newly acquired puppy, but I've deemed the pool finally open for the summer! Water is back to crystal clear, and overnight FC loss as of yesterday morning was somewhere between 0.5ppm and 1.0ppm. So I'm letting the chlorine levels taper down to swim levels.

I also bought a second floater to keep tabs in. I've been using tabs regularly, and my CYA still was in the ground before I started the SLAM, so I think I'm good to keep maintaining with those. Obviously, I'll check the CYA regularly to make sure I'm not creeping up more than I backwash out.

Thanks to everyone who helped me out through this process, you are much appreciated. All in all I ended up using around 80 gallons of liquid chlorine over the span of 8 days or so. Absolutely my fault for letting things get out of hand over the winter. Lesson learned...

I know you guys won't love this, but I'm going to keep the pool service for now since I need to take care of some other things. In the meantime, I'm going to look into the addition of a SWG to maintain my chlorine levels, and the addition of a stenner pump to keep ph in check since some here have had success. More research is needed on my part though. Once I have those two things, the service will get canceled.

I probably won't post in this thread anymore but will try to remain active in other threads. Thanks again!
