Hi. I found the site while researching how to get or pool back in shape. The pool servicer wanted to replace our sand filter with a filter for $2,450 (next day since we were trying to have the pool ready for a party). Anyway, we didn't; we replaced the multi-port valve, standpipe, laterals and sand, depending on much info read here. We have shocked the pool and the numbers are coming around. So, thanks so far!

Some details; we bought the house 7 years ago. The pool hadn't been opened for at least 5 years prior. We were prepared to spend a budget to get it going, or fill it in. It's ~ 29,000 gallons irregular kidney in-ground with a diving board (!). Main drain on bottom, three wall returns. The home warranty replaced the gas water heater the first year. I've replaced the pump with a variable speed programmable pump, and most recently the fore-mentioned filter (Tagelus TA60) repairs. We had it replaced a couple years ago. We love it when it's clear!
