Intex Sand Filter & Saltwater System ECO15110-1 behavior

We just installed an Intex 12x24 Ultra Frame pool which came with a combo Sand Filter and Saltwater system. I've got the pool all up and running but there appears to be an issue with the pump that I've been unable to put my finger on. The behavior is the pump appears to almost be breathing sucking the water in and pushing water out. When the water is sucked in, the top of the leaf trap leaks water while it appears to be relieving pressure. I've tried relieving the pressure by loosening the screw top on the leaf trap. All of the youtube videos I've seen of running systems do not show this behavior . . . . and it leaves a watery mess under the pump, too! :(

Here's a quick video of the pump in operation:

Thanks for any help you'll can lend . . . . . .

 Welcome to TFP!!!

I think there must be a blockage in your plumbing. Check that there is not something blocking the suction line or the return line and that the proper valves are open.

If I turn off the pump and leave the intake valve open, water leaks profusely from around the top of the leaf basket. When the pump is running, I get good velocity for water being pumped back into the pool. I've checked the valves and hoses and they appear to be fine.

Here is a link to additional pics of the filter setup (I can't put them all up here in the thread) . . . . . Thanks again for you'll insight.

In the pdf manual I have open part 15 is a large o-ring for the top of the leaf trap.

https://www.thepoolfactory.com/media/wysiwyg/pdfs/intex_krystal_clear_sand_filter_pump_16in_saltwater_system_20110.pdf

Not sure if it is the same model # but usually there is an o-ring or gasket there.

*edit* Googled the right manual for the Intex Sand Filter & Saltwater System ECO 15110-1, it is also showing part 15 as a lid seal o-ring. I think I got a pump once from them with a missing o-ring was a few years back, I just used another I had laying around at the time.

The missing o-ring on the lid is your problem. The pump is sucking in air and cavitating. Take the lid to a hardware store and see if you can find an o-ring to fit it. I found one at my local Ace Hardware once.
