I have a intex 16x48 right now it is just running off the stock filter system. I have used intex sand filters in the past and they worked decent. I am looking at the intex 16" 3000gph model on amazon for 160 not a bad deal. Or would I be better off getting a better system. I do plan on maybe next year to upgrade to a metal framed pool. I've also thought about getting the intex 2500gph cartridge system to get by this year and decide if I'm going to go with a bigger metal frame next year.

I have a 20 ft Intex. I used an older 19" waterway sand filter with Hayward LX pump and hard plumbed mine with 1 1/2 PVC. Works great.
I used a intex sand filter before with the 16 inch. It was barley enough power to move a aquabug I was kinda interested in more powerful ones.
here is my setup for that exact pump. i love it. i can run my intex robot and sprayer, with the return all at the same time.
