I have an intex pool and someone gave me a set of wedding cake steps for it. He had the same pool and never had a mat or anything under the steps. I have kids that will be playing in them and jumping off of them. So I put a mat under them? What would be the best thing to use? I looked at a rubber mat like is in shower houses but didn’t know if it would be ok on the liner.

I’d have to agree with Kelly. I have wedding cake steps & an intex. I used a mat last year, but chose not to this year. Make sure the plastic on the bottom is smooth & doesn’t have any jagged edges. I had to move them & clean the mat about once a month last year & struggled with my water most of the season too. I think that contributed to it the most.

Thirding or fourthing here. I used a mat last year and had to SLAM at least three times. No mat this year, the steps are easier to clean/brush/vacuum behind, and no algae (so far, knock on wood).
Well it looks like I will not be using a mat then. We are building a small platform with a steps on the outside now. Once we get that done we will put the steps in. The wife hates the cheap ladder that comes with the intex pools.
