Hey fellow pool guys (and gals),
As background we have owned a couple of Intex pools in the past, but because of our family size, we opted for a new 24'x52" model this year. We rent our house, so disruptive ground clearing is not an option. That being said, our yard is pretty level. We bought some sand to smooth out our chosen pool location - going from no sand at all to a couple of inches on one side. We leveled it out as best we could using the "2x4 with a level" method.
We initially put 1-1/2" pavers underneath all the uprights. Using the 2x4 and level, I got the posts leveled as best I could. I thought from one side to the other might be 1" at most. I started filling it up...got about 1/3 of the way up and (after measuring water to top) realized that it was up to 2 1/2" out of level (some posts were not as bad).
That being outside of my comfort zone, I ate the water cost (we live in a semi-arid area) and drained it back down to about 6", then went about re leveling. I had some 3/4" plywood, and bought some 1/4" concrete board for adjustments. I rented a laser-level, and after 6 hours of tweaking and moving, I got all the uprights within 1/4". Confirmed with both the "water to top" measurement method and the laser level. I started filling it - currently about 2' from the top, with all the posts still withing the 1/4" of level. On one side of the pool, I have a paver, plywood and concrete board (resulting in a 2-1/2" rise), then on the other side the pool upright is right on the solid ground. There are varying levels of rise in-between, but those are the most extreme. The uprights were all in perfect vertical level before I started filling, and are still even as pool fills.
Long story long, I'm hoping for an OK/Not OK ruling from the trusted brain trust here. Is this an OK installation, or am I in dangerous territory? We only plan to be in this place for a couple more years. I've attached pictures to clarify. Thank you all for your time!
