The new Intex has a small screw in adapter on the return valve that also comes with a rubber cap that will cover the small air holes, with the cap on it's just normal return flow and with the cap off it shoots alot of air bubbles in with the flow. My question concerns the water chemistry, what will it do to the balance if anything by running with the air bubbles or when would be a good time to do it that way?

The bubbles will tend to raise your pH. Other than that, I don't see much difference.
i got one of those too with my new pump and filter. needless to say it is still in the box
