I resurrected this string since I am also worried about clearance issues with intellivalve actuators. I have all the pool equipment removed at the moment to pour a new concrete equipment pad, so if I need to redo the plumbing, now would be the time.

Here is a current view of my valve spacing. I drew in the orientation of the valve actuators which I think is correct. Can anyone confirm?

I think you have the return valve correct.
But on the suction valve, the way that you have it oriented would allow you to shut the water flow off to the pump which is certainly not a good idea.
Wouldn't you want it like so instead? That way, there is never a possibility of "deadheading" the pump.

I think maybe the handle position of the suction valve may be confusing in the picture. The picture has the valve positioned with suction OFF from the spa. The valve can be turned counter clockwise - spa off, skimmer off, or nothing off. Like in this picture:

In my opinion, your diverter assembly's should be positioned within the valve body or housing like so, based on the markings indicated on the pipes. That way, there is never the possibility of shutting off water flow to the pump or completely blocking water flow from the pump.

The diverter assy can be removed from the housing and re-positioned accordingly.
