Integrate intellibrite controller with automation (intelliconnect))

I have a 5g light and existing intellibrite controller and I just bought an intelliconnect (mostly for ic40 integration with my intelliflo vs pump). I know the automation can control the light and I suppose it would be nice but seeing how I already have the manual controller I'm not sure if I should or could integrate.

I like having the ability to turn on the light without the phone or going all the way to the pad where the intelliconnect is installed. I know I could run them in parallel so either the controller or automation relay could turn them on but I'd have to use the same method to turn off. Is that the only option? Any other thoughts on this?
