Installing Safety Cover - What Kind of Tube Anchors?

So I have some river rock around two edges of my pool.
Bought a safety cover last year and finally getting around to thinking about installing it, but I will need to figure a way to anchor the cover into the river rock.

I was looking online and generally see two options of anchor 'tubes'...

1. Safety Cover Replacement Paver Tube (10 inches long x 1 inch diameter)
2. Safety Cover Replacement Lawn Tube (18 inches long x 1 inch diameter)

The 18" is of course about double the cost of the 10" so I was hoping someone can provide some insight on if I need to go 18" or 10" is sufficient??

Thanks !! =D

I've read a couple of pool cover anchor threads here in the past few months. Most folks get some suggestions if they can post a picture of exactly WHAT they want to cover and where they are thinking of attaching anchors. Do you have an above ground or inground?

Have you tried doing an advanced search? Maybe using "anchor safety cover" or "anchor winter cover" or "anchor above ground cover".... something along those lines. You can even limit your search to the past 6 months or past year if you are looking for recent comments.

Mine uses 2 of the anchor tubes like you listed. It doesn't really matter which length you use as long as it is solid. You could start with the shorter one and if that is solid enough that you are good. The cover goes through a lot of stresses and if windy you don't want it pulling out so make sure you test it well. I would go with the longer ones for sure though.

I don’t have access to ANSI standard ASTM F1346, but it indicates what types of anchors would create a “safety cover” versus a cover.

I believe User PoolguyinCT can provide you details if needed regarding these anchors and compliance. If he doesn’t see this, you can PM him for advice.

Sorry for slow reply - I didn't realize I got a response. Thanks so much everyone :)

I guess going with longer ones can't hurt (other than my wallet).
It's a 16x32 inground pool.
