Installed new sand filter - Pump is LOUD

Hello,

My old filter casing cracked and was leaking. Being that it was very old, I decided to replace it with a Hayward 270T filter.

I went through all the instructions and installed it. After letting the PVC cement dry, I flipped on the pump (1 HP Pentair) and it is significantly louder than it was with the old pump. It is primed and pumping just fine and I'm not seeing any leaks, but the noise level has increased significantly.

Any ideas what might be causing this? Solutions?

Thanks!

Did you use Super Lube (silicone lubricant for pools) on all the rubber gaskets? Did you fill the appropriate amount of sand? Did you make sure the laterals are installed correctly and opened up? Is the pressure higher or lower than before?

Thanks for the response.

- Gaskets: I did not use any lubricant on the gaskets for the new filter
- Sand: Yes, 350lbs of sand which is what the manual called for
- Laterals: they all appeared in the down position when I began filling it. I did have to turn the pvc inside the pump to get it to line up with the manifold base. It could be possible that some of them pivoted up while doing this as there was sand in the filter at that point
- My old pressure valve had been broken. I'm not sure what the previous pressure was. Right now it is reading 11 psi.
