Hello.. I've been experiencing the same problem. I think this is the part..it has corroded to the extent that there is a hole I can stick my finger in.. inside, there is the same pebble like grey "rocks" plus the black flakeage. I looked in the owner's manual and online and I can't find the part anywhere. Any ideas? My guess is it's part of the filtration system..as it was still warm and wet inside. Any chance, the water flows through this black piece and due to low pH and extended time on, has corroded beyond repair?

That definitely looks done for.
You have not filled out your signature so I’m not sure what tub u have.
If you think you have had suboptimal water conditions you should correct that going forward to prevent damage to the replacement parts.
