Our 23,000 gal in-ground pool was installed with no lighting at all. We have tried all of the Intel floating lights, but they are a joke. Aside from the major construction job of having one installed, what are my options for bright light? Can I make some kind of holder for a “real” light and just run the cord on the deck and plug it in?

I think you have to look at lights on posts rather then lights in the water. Post some pics of your pool area and let's see how creative we can be with a nice design.

I have LED floodlights on the side of my house that shine down on the pool area and I rarely turn on the pool lights.

That’s a thought... I would just rather have light in the water instead of shining down over my head at night if I’m sitting in a chair watching my kids swim. But I’m open to all options! Thank you for taking the time to reply!!!

Putting lights in the water will involve major invasive surgery in your pool. Pull up the pavers, trench to the pool wall. drain down the water, cut a hole in the pool wall and liner to install a piece of 1 1/2" PVC for nicheless pool lights. Depending on the age of your liner it may or may not survive the procedure.

I know you don't want lights overhead but I would put lights in the three locations I circled in red. Not very high wattage floods that would give you a suntan. Enough light to more make it like a very bright moon lit night.

@jimmythegreek thoughts on adding lights?

Might be easy..... Show me a pic of your plumbing pad and how your returns are setup and if you have a cleaner port. In properly plumbed pools you can lose a return amd turn it into a nicheless spot if you want the light bad enough

Thank you for all your great ideas! These are old pics I took the night we arrived at our new house 4 years ago, because I’m at work right now. There are two main drains, two skimmers, and 4 returns, one at each “corner” (2 in the shallow, 2 in the deep.) The vinyl liner is OLD. Like probably 10 years old and faded and starting to wrinkle and stretch, but thank God no leaks or holes.
