Hi Folks,
My pool has a leak in the bottom drain. 20k gallon gunnite pool installed sometime in the 70's. The original piping that went to the filter was destroyed ten years ago when the previous homeowner didn't winterize the pool. The pipes were plugged off. Local pool shop routed new PVC & new filter 4 years ago when we moved in, everything's been fine. Water has been fresh and clean thanks this place. Wife and I have 3 limbs apiece so we really need our pool for rehab: closing it isn't an option.
Last week, the pool guy installed new plug, but the copper pipe is falling apart so it didn't help much. I wrapped a bucket in a shower curtain, filled it with heavy rocks and put it right over the drain, which slowed it a bit- we are losing about inch of water per day. I"m going through rolaids like candy. Google searches suggest concrete or epoxy after the pool's been drained... but the pool guy says if we drain our pool it will likely float because of the water table. argh.
anybody ever deal with something like this?
