I was on here a while back with an Intex, but wanting and pricing semi-above-ground pools. Life happened and I spent the last 2 summers getting my graduate degree and a couple of teaching endorsements so I didn't have time to relax (also a single mom to a fabulous 11-year-old). I finally get summer off this year and have decided to push my economic fears aside and just do it! I'm going through a local pool store and have an installer who will drop the pool 2 feet in the ground. I will have to do all the backfill myself and move the leftover dirt. I could probably get a better deal going through Pool Factory for the pool, but I couldn't find an installer who would put a pool they didn't know in the ground. The pool is a Carvin aluminum and resin. I just wanted to say hello again, and I'll be back with questions (where to put the pump/filter and how to extend my deck) and installation pics.

haha...yes. If only I could stumble onto a hard-sided dirt cheap! I've been lurking around for a couple of weeks and saw your pool build. Very nice! I love the patio around the pool. I've been standing in my backyard for 30 minutes trying to figure my deck out. I want to extend from the existing deck, but my sewer clean-out is about a foot from the house and my crawl space door needs to be accessible. What to do? I could create a hatch on the deck to get to the clean-out (I've only needed to access it once in the past 12 years). The top of the crawl space door is where I'd like the deck boards (floor), which means the joists would be in front of the door unless I make that part of the deck higher. I wonder what building the deck about 4 feet from the house would look like. I can't envision it. I could put a railing on the backside and then plant something tall along the house. I don't know. (In the pic, the clean out is close to the deck and you can see the white door to the crawl space. Any ideas appreciated.Excuse you. Frame the deck for trap doors. With the exception of 3 planks cut at the same spot and not staggered like the rest of the deck, nobody will ever know.
You'll need a U like shape gap in the framing by the crawlspace so you can pass through, the cleanout may or may not need one.

By the crawl space door you could do a U shape drop in as Newdude said; it would probably be an easy thing to do. As long as there's enough space for someone to be able to open the door and get in so it should be a nice size opening. Maybe even look at a piano hinge for it to make it a little more manageable?. Amazon.com : heavy duty piano hinge As far as the cleanout I would make a square opening a little bigger than the actual cleanout. With all the joist hangers they have today anything is possible!
