We recently used our baja umbrella sleeve for the first time with 1-1/2 umbrella post

It fits perfect in top of sleeve and snug but down inside the bottom of the base there is play so the umbrella post doesn't sit up straight.

Curious what solutions folks have come up with to stablize the base of the umbrella post deep in the baja umbrella sleeve.

Ideas I may try
- Wrap the bottom of the umbrella post with thick velcro loop side to see if it helps keep it snug but goes through top threaded area
...

Curious what others may have done

Use these -

Thanks.. Ya I have a solution similar to this at the top the challenge is deep at the bottom the post has play inside the bottom area so it naturally leans instead of being upright. And I checked the sleeve is level and plumb so not installed incorrectly.

I had same issue yesterday with first use and 1.5" cheap beach umbrella. I wrapped the post with silver duct tape to build up to where it was a snug fit down in the tube. I also had to have it tight enough that the wind didn't pull it out. Kinda got it too tight on first try. But, I doubt that will work in the long haul with that tape.

Just be careful with making them too snug and NEVER use wood as swelling can cause a snug pole to get stuck and then you’ll be kicking yourself trying to figure out how to get it out.

My $.02 - A good solution for this kind of thing -( too much play around a cylinder and an adapter of some type is needed ) - I have found is to find a piece of thin walled PVC that is maybe the same size or a little larger in diameter than the tube. Depending on what you need, you can even use a PVC connector. PVC is very soft and pliable when heated. You can take a heatgun and heat the PVC until it is rubbery and stretchy. Then you can stretch it over the shaft and make a sleeve. If you mess it up or need to redo it, the PVC can be cut off. PVC is soft so it can be sanded or filed down if you need to adjust it a little. Its surprising how workable PVC is when it is hot. After struggling to find anything on the shelf, I built an adapter for my shop vac to connect two different sizes of tubing. It turned out to be super simple, cheap (about $1.30) and it worked beautifully.

Just a thought.

Interesting idea but since my sleeve has threads at top can’t really make the post larger with pvc slip. Would be ideal to have the pvc slip at the bottom of the sleeve I think the Baja to keep bottom part of umbrella post from having a little play. I’m going to be testing out wrapping bottom of post with larger Velcro loop one side to see if it helps reduce the play at the very bottom
