iAquaLink App - How to schedule different speeds throughout the day without interruption...

I just installed a new Jandy VS Pump and it came with the IQPump01 controller.

I'm playing around wit the app and can't figure out what seems to be the simple task of scheduling the pump to change speeds throughout the day without interruption.

I want to run the pump at 2,500 from (9 pm to 9 am) and then 1,500 from for the rest of the day.

If I create one schedule for 2,500 from 9 pm to 9 am and then another one at 1,500 from 9:01 am to 8:59 pm, does that mean the pump will turn off for 1 minute each time it transitions? I really just want to to seamlessly reduce speed but there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to do this.

Most people set the pump to run 24x7 at "Pool" speed. It is recommended to do a 5 minute gap between start and stop. So START 12:00AM to STOP 11:55PM. Then scheduled speed transitions as you want them. The pump will not stop in this configuration except for the 5 minutes at the end of the 24 hour cycle.

If the firmware on that controller behaves anything like it's Aqualink RS big brother then you would schedule it like this:

Set the run time from 12:01 am to 11:59pm for speed 1 and set that to your slower speed of 1500 rpm. Then add a second item in the schedule from 9pm to 11:59pm for speed 2 set at 2500 rpm. And lastly add a third item in the schedule for 12:01am to 9am for 2500 rpm.

While the IQpump01 may have this all fixed, its big brother the Aqualink RS gets confused if you schedule the pump running across the day change boundary, and its best to avoid that. You do need to start / stop once per day and that's the reason for the 11:59pm and 12:01am break in the schedule.

For the RS system the rule on speeds is the fastest speed wins if two speeds or activities are scheduled. The RS also treats speed step 1 as the filter/pump speed which should be your slow, long running speed. When you schedule a second faster speed as a subset of the filter/pump (speed 1) run time the pump will seamlessly change to the faster speed and back to the slower speed without stopping.

That's how it works on the Aqualink RS system, and I can't imagine the IQPump01 controller is much different. Give it a try and please report back if it does work this way.
