We have a rectangle 12'x24' intex metal frame pool. It's held up OK with the 12" 2,100 gph sand filter it came with, but I think it's finally time to get a new one (it's been about 5 years!). Last year we had to kick it to get it going, and this year it was also tough to get going. It's pretty slow output right now, and the air jet valve leaks when the filter is off. I know I can replace the air jet valve, and perhaps the motor on it's own, but we might as well just get a whole new kit and caboodle.
Are there any other recommendations than maybe just a new intex brand one? The 2,800gph has a good deal right now - I was hoping that it would be one step up than the one we currently have, however I feel like they list them differently now and man it's been a minute since I've had to really troubleshoot my pool.
Any thoughts? We want it to be relatively plug and play. Not really interested in cutting holes into the side of the pool or retrofitting anything. (Unless you have a killer way to introduce a simple pool heater that actually works and doesn't explode because it slowly has to send water through black rubber....
then I'd be willing to do some leg work. But that's worth a whole other thread.)
Let me know if it's a completely terrible idea to just stick with intex or if I need to invest in Hayward/Pentair etc. Our pool's typical struggle is typically high PH.
