Hello All,

I started a post last month about CYA levels and my new pool, I was quickly pointed in the right direction and ordered the TF-100 kit all I can say is wow! I mean how do people balance a pool without it..... THEY DON'T!

So here are my levels, Anything I should address or just maintain these numbers?

FC- 5.7

PH- 7.2

TA- 100

CH- 400

CYA- 45

CSI (-0.22 Balanced)

I am looking at adding Borate as I hear nothing but good about it. Thoughts?

Thanks so much in advance! Heath

FC looks like a typo. The reading isn't a multiple of .2 or .5.

Round CYA up to 50, which will change your recommended FC levels a bit.

Borates are totally optional. I don't bother because I more-or-less continually replace water to keep CH in check and I'm afraid borates may kill the lawn. I've visited Death Valley and seen the old Borax works... not much growing out there. If you do choose to go that route, wait until your pool chemistry is perfect and the daily care is boring and routine. Then it won't feel so much like juggling the numbers. Boric acid is easier to use than borax and muriatic acid, I read.
