How's the Buildup with Salt?

Hey Guys, I am just about ready to start my pool build and was planning to go with a SWG setup. A friend of mine was saying in Arizona the water is so hard that with a salt setup you will get salt and calcium buildup absolutely everywhere. All over the Waterline tiles,Deck jets, equipment, and even the travertine Decking. So I was wondering is he just a SWG "Hater" or does he have some valid points?:sunny:

I vote hater. I have not noticed a difference in the build-up with or without salt. With the amount of evaporation we get you will get deposits left on the tiles. But if you maintain your Chemistry properly it will be minimized

With high evaporation rates, we do get calcium at the waterline, but that has nothing to do with salt. Remember a SWG pool has less than 1\10 as much salt as the ocean, and I don’t see a lot of salt buildup at the shoreline. Who ever told you that knows little about maintaining a SWG pool.

It is necessary to monitor and manage with a SWCG in our hard water environment.

Any way you could incorporate soft water into your auto-fill line? Not to use to initially fill the pool, but to make up due to evaporation.
