I have my main pump and a second pump that pushes water to the tanning ledge and overflows into the main pool. I'm 4 weeks from plaster and have been running both pumps 24/7. How often, and when, should I run my pumps going forward?

Same general question for my heater. It took about 4 days of running it non-stop to get it up to 85. Should I leave it on now and let it come on as needed to maintain 85?

Thanks!
Jason

Welp. Why are you running them ?

You run the pump(s) to achieve a purpose.

1) mix the chems (15 min twice a day)
2) filter/skim the water
3) produce chlorine
4) produce heat
5) enjoy features.

2, 3 and 4 vary wildly throughout the season. You need more filtering / heat early and late season, and more chlorine (SWG) mid season. All 3 are a moving target that will take good old fashioned trial and error. It can be night and day different for you and your neighbor so there is no standard unfortunately.

What RPM skims ? What about the heater ? Have you fired up the SWG yet? We need a RPM for that too. Filtering is the easy one and will likely be satisfied by the time it takes to produce the days FC and heat the pool.

 With the cost of electricity for your heat pump, the utility company loves you. Now, I do understand you won't need to heat the pool as the summer gets warmer. The post above gives you the reasons for running the circulation pump. Running the heat pump is how much you can withstand the cost.
