How often do you run your pump?

I have a 15k gallon in ground pool that we put in this year. It has a swg, heater (which never is needed except may/sept). The pump is a Hayward vs pump. So far I’ve had it run 24 hours a day at 55% which I have always had crystal clear water and a good balance when testing the water. My fc will get a little high if I haven’t taken the solar blanket off in a few days which tends to happen mid week.
My question is can I drop the amount of run time on the pump? I was thinking of having it off for a few hours early morning and in the evening. Is there any recommendations I should be following? Should I keep the pump going but say at a much lower rate to keep some circulation?

thanks

Your cell running at 55% is off 45% of the day. Turn it to 100% and turn the pump off for 10 hours 45 minutes. The SWG doesn't care if its on half the day at 100%, or all day at 50%. Time is time and it comes off the lifespan of the unit.

Your pump running is caring for two basic functions
1) Skim your pool
2) SWG generating enough chlorine

In most cases, SWG will dictate the need for pump run time. I run my SWG at 100% on pump’s low speed (dual speed pump) @1750 RPM for 8 hours in heat of summer. Less when FC demand is lower. I don’t have trees or heavy organics getting to the pool so it skims in short order.

Only you (really your pool) can determine how long you need to run and as for speed, fast enough to keep SWG flow sensor happy.
