How much chlorine do you use?

Alright, I got the TF 100 test kit and I'm using pool math and no more pool store chemicals; liquid chlorine only for now, but it seems like I have to put a ton of liquid in the pool everyday to keep the chlorine up...
I'd like to get an idea of how much chlorine everyone uses for regular maintenance each day? I am putting about 6-9 cups a day.

Also, does anyone else feel the CYA test is the most ludicrous testing method ever?... Really?... Watch the black dot! When I do the test I get 70 and when my boyfriend does the test, he gets 100.

I use about half a gallon per day in my pool during the summer time. Right now... it's that much every 3-4 days with the cold temps and cloudy weather we've had. 1-3 ppm per day is normal for any pool but will depend a lot on sun and usage.

CYA is one of those tests that's a pain to get right... and of course it's a very important test. The best thing you can do is make sure it's a sunny day. Face away from the sun and hold the vial lower toward your waist. Dump the sample back in the mixing bottle then back in the testing vial 2, 3, 4 times to see if you get the same result and get some practice looking at it.

2-3 ppm FC loss is common once you get everything balanced.
When I do the test I get 70 and when my boyfriend does the test, he gets 100.
Time to get a new boyfriend!!:laughblue::laughblue: Well, maybe there's another way. The CYA test is ambiguous at first but you will get better. You can pour the solution in and out of the view tube over and over and practice. We need to save that boyfriend so tell him to practice, too!
