How much can you expect to save with a variable speed pump

Between my AC and my pool my electrical bill doubles this time of year to just over $300.

I know my pump doesn’t have much life left, has been loud for 5+ years. This year I had to help it start. I can probably get the rest of the season and potentially one or two more. But if the savings are significant it is worth doing now especially since there are rebates.

Sir,

I think the "savings" really depends on how much your run your current pump..

I know that I can run my IntelliFlo 24/7 at about 1200 RPM, most of the time, for way less than $20 bucks a month.

Let's see if we can get @PoolGate to post his savings chart.

Electrical cost is one reason to go with a VS pump, but the fact that you can change the speed of the pump to match the task at hand, and how quiet the pump runs at low low RPM, is another reason.. At 1200 RPM, you have to almost touch my pump to make sure it is running. I can run low speed most of the time, but still have the ability to speed the pump up to run my waterfall or help with skimming.

Thanks,

Jim R.
