Quick recap, 11 year old pool, took 10 years for all the original LED lights to fail (globrite)
I am aware of the less than stellar record of these lights, I replaced three and 2 of them failed again within the year, surprisingly they were replaced under warranty without much fuss.
Today I replaced said lights, previously the old lights were obviously compromised and sad looking, these looked brand new to the point I tried them all individually to make sure they were in fact dead.
New lights work fine, while cleaning up I could hear the transformer humming, not terrible but enough to notice with other pool equipment turned off, when the pump is on I can't hear the transformer, it didn't seem hot nor did pulling the cover off reveal anything burnt or anything. Haven't ever noticed it previously but the lights aren't normally on when I am working around the equipment pad either.
Wondering if a 10 year old transformer could have contributed to the premature failure of the newish lights, considering replacing it for $100 but checking in here first. It HAS tripped the GFI breaker a few times but I know those have their own issues.
ideas and thoughts welcome...photo for attention.
