How long is it really taking?

Signed contract in July of 2020, and broke ground in August 2020 for a gunite pool in Clearwater, FL. Filled with water sometime in March of 2021, and still have yet complete an outdoor kitchen that was included in our build quote.

Pool builder originally quoted us three months from start to finish. The joke between the wife and I is when we passed the one year mark I was going to send the PB a happy one year anniversary card.

I find that sadly hilarious but doubt your builder would! Isn't your builder the one that tried to "help" the company that went under? I would be pressing him that HIS customers should come first (If I have the right builder in mind).

Yes you are correct, and we're not happy with all the recent shenanigan's that we have been enduring,

This year?! That may be close to a record.
Yes. They hammered it out. I was really surprised. We still owe final payment and they still need to deck-o-seal. But we been swimming for 3weeks now. I told my wife " I wonder how long before they want that last payment"

I'll play; not with an install, but an AquaBright application for our FG pool.

Signed contract December 20 and paid the deposit and was told it would be finished by end of March 21.
Started prep work May 10
Application finally finished May 21 but the heat application caused an old leak patch in the light niche to deteriorate and had to be partially drained again on May 24.
August 3 and still waiting on the final two punch list items (an eyeball return and brass cover plates as we removed the deep end ladder and chose to cap instead of digging up the tabby which we couldn't match)
It is amazing to me that we still owe him the final payment and he still hasn't returned for it. He has texted twice that he would be back, but still no appearance.

We had a couple of punch list items and held back more than the final payment on the contract. Supervisor grumbled, but they addressed the issues to get the $$. It has to be more than the cost of taking people off another job and finishing yours, or they'll never priortize your job.

To be honest, I don't care if they never finish those last two items! I'll never reach out to him to come back to finish. The ball is in his court and the money is still in my pocket.

Any idea of the percentage savings you had doing o/b? Do you have a thread?
We ended up getting a bid from a builder from our plans for the entire pool. Their bid was $67,000. We spent right about $50,000 but we upgraded a few things from the plans, like quartz to micro pebble and tile. So we saved closer to $20,000. Here’s my build thread.
