This is my first time being a pool owner. I did not take care of my stuff and I am quickly appreciating the phrase: an ounce of prevention ....
That said, I have decided that I cannot fight this algae bloom in my above ground vinyl intex pool. We were going to put our pool away after labor day anyway, so here we are. But it is green. Very green. Draining and scrubbing is where we are at. (Any suggestions for cleaners or chemicals to use are welcome!)
MY BIG QUESTION
I believe that the algae has grown inside the filter hoses and pump. Since we are closing down and putting it away, I want it to be as clean as can be. As we plan on draining the pool, how do we clean the pump if there won't be clean water to run the chemicals through it? Do I use a bathtub and soak the hoses? I really have no idea what I should do, but I DO NOT think I should put the pump away dirty....
Also, I left the pool vacuum in the water and there's algae in those lines too... I know, I'm the worst. *cringe*
Please help!
