My pool was finished in April 2023. We haven't been in it in over a month, and I just saw a finger-tip-width hole in the top of one of the steps.

How could this have happened, so I can prevent it from happening again, and what can I do about it now?

Thanks.

You likely didn’t do anything- call the pool builder asap.
Why didn’t you use the pool for a year? Did it sit empty?

How deep is the hole?

Stick a nail in the hole and see how deep it is.

Does the nail hit solid gunite how deep down?

No, we used it a lot this year, just not in the last month as the kids went back to school, baseball picked up, and it got cooler.

I texted him the photo and he said he could have someone add hydrolic cement.
