High PH -salt and FC

Water analysis at pool store indicated very low salt and FC. Their recommendation was adding two 40# bags of salt, 3.5 c muriatic acid, 3.2 lbs stabilizer and a super shock.

This is morning the salt cell is off because the Hi Salt light is red (4200ppm) and the inspect cell light is lit.

My question is, does this combination of treatments result in a temporarily high salt level? Also PH is close to 8 and FC is 10.

Thanks so so much for your advice.

Do you have your own test kit? Can you post up your own test results?

The SWCG should be left off until the salt has 24 hours to circulate. You added 1000 ppm of salt. And ~40 ppm of CYA. I would be very careful adding that much CYA based on Pool store tests.

What is 'super shock'?

Why are you having your water tested at the pool store and following their advice?

SWG should be turned off for 24 hours after adding salt (to be safe and not damage it). What salt level was the SWG reading before you added salt?

What was your CYA? What is 3.2 lbs going to take you to?
Why 3.5C muriatic acid?
Why super shock (whatever that is)?

Bottom line:
We need accurate test results. And then would use PoolMath to determine how much of what chemical was need to adjust to the desired targets.

This was the first time I took a sample to the pool store or had it tested any other way. My pool is new. The salt level was 2200 before salt was added. They did not test for CYA. Total chlorine and free chlorine were less than 2.

What test kit do you recommend.

I uploaded a photo of the Super Shock. Please let me know if it is not attached.

The 'super shock' is Cal Hypo. Added calcium and some chlorine.

Order a TF100 test kit
The only other real option for a test kit is a Taylor K-2006-C. Be careful comparing prices because the K-2006 comes in sizes, designated by a letter. The basic K-2006 has .75oz bottles. You need to get the K-2006-C to get the larger bottles that you want.
I also have the SpeedStir. It makes testing much easier.

I would also suggest buying a salinity test kit. The K1766. It can be bundled with the TF100.

If the salt tested 2200 ppm before you added 1000 ppm of salt, the water is either not circulated very well or the 2200 ppm test was wrong.

Thank you for your help. I have ordered the items that you recommended.

Later yesterday I checked the level with a test strip and returned to the same pool store with a sample. The reading is 3100. The Aqua Rite still reads 4100and remains off. I have tried going to the actual and doing the reset with no luck. Is there a way to change the Aqua Rite setting to the actual so that it will restart? Thanks again
