I tried searching around some, but I couldn't find a great thread here. I have been battling a high pH issue since we moved in. I chalked it up to running the spillover a little bit each day, or maybe the fact that the returns were rippling the water. I was willing to deal with it to circulate the water and I just figured I had "one of those pools" that did weird stuff. Turns out that is not the case. I tested my pH yesterday - 7.5. It had been holding around there for a couple of days Today, I ran the spillover for 30 minutes and I also topped off the water, I was about 2 inches low. I go to test pH again tonight and I'm sitting at 8.
That got me thinking.. what's my fill water pH?

I tested it twice because it just seemed so weird. I haven't really seen anyone on here complain about high pH municipal water. I know the effectiveness of chlorine goes down the higher the pH, so I'm somewhat surprised they'd be okay with this. Is this normal or is something up with my city water?
