Hi Everyone,

New pool owner here from Winnipeg Canada. I came across this forum while searching for useful information regarding pool maintenance. I really wanted to learn it by myself and for sure I could save a lot that way. Plus I know what really is happening to the pool. Hoping my current water will get clear for my family to enjoy. Right now the pool was opened by a pool company and the current status is like this. water pic 05222018.jpg water is cloudy. I have already created a thread in just getting started and I was happy with the responses.

Right now I am trying to complete the details in my signature to provide more details on what I have. Here are some questions that I am not sure what is the answer.

1. The type of filter you have (sand, DE, cartridge) and, if you know, the brand and model of the filter. - I know this is the filter on the pool, pool filter.jpg not sure what type is this one? Is the brand and model the one written on the valve?

2. Would I be able to tell what type if IG pool I have by just looking into it?

Looks like a sand filter to me, and a vinyl liner pool.

Zoomed in on filter, it’s a Hayward but can’t tell if there is a model number.

That is a sand filter. Brand? My guess -- guess, mind you -- is a Hayward Pro Series, based on the style of the clamp. Your exact model isn't important unless you're having problems finding parts. For your signature, "sand filter" is fine.

Pool material is going to be vinyl, fiberglass, or plaster. Vinyl you may see seams, and there will probably be some sort of faceplate around the skimmer opening. The steps may be a separate piece. Fiberglass, the steps and all will be molded and uniform, too, much like a fiberglass bathtub, but exactly the same material as the rest of the pool since it is one piece. Plaster looks like concrete, and you may see trowel marks here and there, or plaster climbing up over the return fittings. The company that opened the pool can probably tell you what the surface is.
