Here are my numbers.

Just tested my water with the Taylor K 2006. I have a 26k gallon vinyl inground chlorine pool. We just switched over to straight bleach from pucks. We added almost 2 gallons of 6% bleach last night trying to get the FC over 4.6. Thinking it would be much higher today, I tested and this is what I just got.

FC 5.4
CC 0
PH- 7.5
CYA 58
TA 70

What should I do?

Re: Here are my numbers.

It was 4.6 last night. Added almost 2 gallons last night and just checked it again today.

We used pool math to determine amount trying to get it in the 7s as suggested with the cya number.

Re: Here are my numbers.

Use 10ml of water for the chlorine test so that the drops are each 0.5ppm.
I again suggest you order refills for the CYA and FAS-DPD chlorine test now before you run out ;)

What does your water look like?

Re: Here are my numbers.

90 degree sunny day at 3:00 Pm your time. It is possible to lose that much over a day. I would test again this evening. Test again in the morning. Should lose less than 1 overnight. You might have had 7 to start the day.

Water looks great! It's kind of cloudy outside, but here are a couple of pics. What's my main concern? I know, I'm going to order tonight. I've become obsessed with getting this right! POOOOOOL.jpgPOOOOOL.jpg It's gold pebble liner, so will be darker.

Re: Here are my numbers.

Should I add more bleach now or wait until I test this evening?

Re: Here are my numbers.

There is CYA / FC ratio. If you check this out, you will see min allowable amount of FC for your pool, it is %100 depending on your CYA.

Simply check and test pool everyday, and in few weeks you will see what is your average FC usage.

I believe FC and PH better to test once a day, rest of staff once a week. Some people keep testing TA also everyday. Do not worry much , keep maintain simple steps and enjoy your pool

Re: Here are my numbers.

FC-5.4
CYA-58

We just switched over from pucks to bleach because the CYA kept rising.. So my question is...
is it smarter to keep adding bleach to keep up with CYA or drop the CYA by emptying some and topping off with fresh water? We are in Arkansas with hot and humid temps. Sunlight from sun up until sun down. No shade. Thoughts?

Re: Here are my numbers.

Depends on how high your CYA is and if your pool is salt water generated or not. What is your current CYA level and setup? If you are non salt water generated you may want to stay between 40 PPM and 50 PPM since you have constant sun exposure from sunup to sundown, but no higher than 50ppm. Oh nevermind I see you are at 58. I would drain a little like 1/8th and refill a little. How did you get 58? And with what test kit, or is this pool store stats?

Re: Here are my numbers.

You are right at the upper end of CYA for non SWG pools. But well within the forum book numbers. Your numbers say never below 5 and target 7-9. That would make me tend to add in the morning to get to 9 maybe 10 then let it drift down naturally during the day. If you see you are below 5 the next morning you need to target 10 - 11 the next morning.
A lower CYA allows lower FC averages but your daily loss may be the same or worse than now.

Re: Here are my numbers.

How are you getting a CYA of 58ppm?

CYA is based on your UV (sun) exposure, and will vary by location, and chlorination system (sodium hypochlorite vs SWG).

FC is determined by your CYA level.
