Help with sizing a generator

I am going to attempt to leave my water level higher this year at closing by using a skimmer plug/plate.
I am hoping by doing this I won’t need much salt at all at next opening. It will also be less spendy to replenish borates so I will probably keep them more topped up.
That reminds me, I need to aquire a frisbee while it’s the summer time to put under my cover pump so I don’t pump through the cover over the winter anymore.

Those who don’t drain down their pools for winter & live in arid environments have noted salt levels of 4k+ after several years of manual chlorination. There’s been a couple threads recently like that.

Obvs you will, but for anyone else considering this, keep tabs on it. I didn't understand all the terrible reviews for these, even holding it in my hand. It was dead square with a very robust gasket. But my 17 year old skimmer was no longer square or plumb.

*Thats* when all the reviews made perfect sense. It's not the plugs fault they leak but the weathered skimmer. Then as it cools for winter, the skimmer plastic will shrink just a skootch and if it wasn't leaking to start, it will be later.

So always use a gizzmo or leave the skimmer pipe open to drain, and keep tabs on it from time to time.

Yeah I’m a little trepidatious but I’m leaning towards the plate that screws in. I always leave the skimmer pipe open & will still do so.
I wish I would have bought the aquadoor tupperware type before refilling & opening because you have to drain down to install the skimmer receiver plate for it. I had one in my cart forever but never pulled the trigger 😩
