Hello, my name is Bryan Brooks. I posted here a few years back when I first got my pool and you guys helped me a lot. I take my pool chemistry very seriously but will be following your ways this year on products ETC!
While researching the best programming for my variable speed pump to run more efficiently I believe that my pump is too big and the filter is too small. My water stays pretty clean, but the filter needs to be back washed a lot (our two golden doodles constantly swim in the pool. We constantly have a very fine grit that looks like sand in the creases of the liner which I believe might be from too many GPM through the filter.
My pool is not saltwater so it does not have a generator and I'm not sure what the term is for that.

Pump- Pentair SuperMax VS 1.5 HP
Filter - Hayward sand s-200-x (200 pounds)
Pool - 36x18 Vinyl 28,000 Gallons

I was using the TF-100 but it needed a total refill and it was cheaper to get the k-2006 so I will be using that this year. It does puff but when I put in the fine filters on my robot it can clean it. I would be very surprised if it's algae but I have been wrong many times before!

Hi, Wire when I open the pool I will of course do this. I keep my levels right in the ranges you guys suggest.
My post is more so to inquire about my filter and pump setup as I think my pump may be to big for my current filter as the filter says its rated for a max of around 50 GPM when my pump puts out 77 GPM at half speed.
The pool is not salt.
