Been trying to slam for about a week now. Started with ph at 7.2 but that's now up to 8.7. I must have added too much stabilizer as CYA was around 90 after 1st couple days. Pool is ~24k gallons. Been adding shock per pool math for a slam. Initially the calculator had me adding 8 to 10 gallons of 10% at a time. As I've vacuumed to waste and refilled cya has come down to around 30. Each time I checked FAC (usually 4 to 8 hrs after adding) FAC would be 0 (or nearly). I determined that maybe I wasn't checking often enough so I added 6 gallons last night and 1hr later FAC was 0. It doesn't seem like I'm ever hitting a shock point to 'level and maintain'. Is the pool math suggestion too low? Should I double up amounts and check more often? Since FAC is 0 (TAC is 3.7) should I try to reset ph back down to 7.2 before adding chlorine again? FWIW, as far as I can see (it's cloudy enough that I can't see the bottom in the deep end) there is no organic matter in the pool (I did remove tons of leaves and things the first few days). I have my poolbot running almost nonstop and while it did bring up a lot of sand and vegetation initially, it's now bringing up only the occasional small twig and very little sand)
Also, Filter is a sand filter but using filter balls. Pumps been running 24/7 since I started and backwash at least 2x a day.
