Help! What kind of a diving board do I have?

My diving board itself is cracked, so I'm looking to replace it. However, I'm not sure what kind of base I have. It looks like it could be an SR Smith Cantilever, or an Inter-fab Techni-Beam, or something else entirely - I'm just not sure. My pool is probably 40+ years old, and I wouldn't be surprised if the stand was just as old. Because of that, there aren't any stickers or anything else to identify the manufacturer or model (only identification is a metal plate w/ a # on the old board itself).

I've attached a photo and a diagram with measurements that I put together to this post (I tried my best w/ measurements, but possible that they're not exact).

One thing I did notice that I don't see in photos of the SR Smith or Inter-fab base, is the metal on the top of the base - where the fulcrum would sit - is elevated. This is metal and part of the base (not any kind of pad or riser attached to it). But, since the base is so old, I'm wondering if this could just be an earlier version of the Cantilever or Techni-Beam.

Does anyone have a clue? I want to replace the board but don't want to order the wrong one and have to ship it back.

This appears to be the SR Smith Cantilever base, the Cantilever base has a 12" square bolt pattern at the base and then accepts a 2 hole board which are 12 inches apart which match the specs. you have listed. You may see the dimensions of the Cantilever board and base here http://www.inyopools.com/Products/04100848035919.htm (bottom of page) If you wanted to replace your old base then you would purchase the complete board and base 6' model 682092062 or 8' model 682092082. If you wanted to use your old base then you would need to purchase the 6' spring assembly 69209026 or 8' spring assembly 69209028 based on how long of a board you need (6' or 8' board) and you would also need the corresponding board, the 6' board is 66209206S21 and the 8' board is 66209208S21. I hope you get your board back up for the summer!

I have a SR Smith cantilever base as well and like you mentioned: the front end (where the fulcrum is) is flat on my stand, BUT they used 2 nylon pads to perform what looks like your stand is doing (with the metal "prop" up on each side). My guess is yours is definitely an SR smith cantilever, or at least something close. Check out the parts/installation list here: http://www.srsmith.com/media/47084/06-303.pdf

Your measurements match mine (I happen to have it sitting in my basement right now, drying after being coated with KBS RustSeal), but Im not familiar with the Interfab stand you mentioned.

Do you have the springs for the board? Do you have pics of the board itself? If its a solid board that might not help, but if its not fully solid you might be able to narrow it down with a pic of the profile vs the profiles of other boards.

EDIT: I just searched the web for the Interfab stand and I have to say, I wonder if Interfab and SR Smith were/are the same company, or are relabelling each others stands. They look identical, as do the parts lists. The current pics show the 2 nylon pads on the Interfab just like I have on my SR Smith so maybe yours is in fact older than mine. The pool and equipment where here when I bought my house, I just assumed the stand was original to the pool being built, which I believe was around 1978. So my stand is probably 35 yrs old or so.

I originally thought it was a Cantilever too, but then noticed the nuances so e-mailed all my photos to SR Smith and their engineers said it's not theirs and they have no clue what it is (though i'm sure the mounting strip is their commercial mounting kit and I think the fulcrum might be a Flyte Deck II....who knows what happened with the previous owners). And the Inter-fab does seem identical, but they seem to be distinct competitors.

Anyways, if I can't figure it out I might just try to put an SR Smith board on it since the hole measurements line up, and there's a +/-3" allowance on where the fulcrum needs to go, so I think it'll work......just mystified by this.

I have more pics but the forum says i've exceeded my quota for file size.

If it helps I can take measurements of my GlasHide board from mounting holes to where the fulcrum label is. I know it might not be the exact board you are looking at but I think the fulcrum position should be the same as long as you stick with the same length board I have (6').

BTW, a great place to buy a new board: Amazon! Amazed at the free 2nd day prime on such a "large" item (length wise anyway....thickness wasnt too big of a deal)

Thanks for the offer chrisexv6 - but I actually have a GlasHide from Amazon in my dining room. I didn't want to open it once I realized it might not be compatible, but at this point i'm just going to open it and see if it'll work. And Amazon IS awesome - this is my second GlasHide....first arrived damaged and they took it right back, paid for return shipping, and gave me 1 day priority shipping on the replacement.

Cool.... from the measurements in your pictures it should fit.

What kind if damage did your first one have? Mine came here just fine but I noticed a few dimples in the surface... Probably not shipping damage though

Thanks.

A corner of the board was smashed....the coating completed cracked and falling off on that part. The day after I ordered it Amazon stopped selling that version (white) because of shipping or other issues (they put an alert on the item page). Anyways, replaced it w/ the blue which was still being sold direct from Amazon and I don't think there are any issues. I still haven't opened it, but should get to it this weekend.....de-rusted and painted the base and spring, now on to see if it'll work - thanks for all the advice!

Strange! I guess I ordered mine at a good time (it was a while ago....didnt anticipate it taking this long to get the stand ready)

Just installed mine today, finally. Came out good....went with white since our old one was blue and I was bored of the color.

Good luck with yours (Im also in CT, it almost doesnt seem worth putting all the effort into it all for such a limited pool season!)
