Hi All,

Longtime lurker. First time poster. Really appreciate all of you and the advice and knowledge provided. It has helped a ton.

There is one issue I haven't been able find a solution to: I keep getting algae on the walls and floor of my pool. Can any help me figure out what I need to do to fix it?

Pool:
~22k gallon vinyl lined pool
Pentair DE filter
Chlorine source: liquid

Pool chem:
Free Chlorine: 4
Combined chlorine: 0
Cya: 30
PH: 7.6
Alkilinity: 90
Water temp: 84
Filter Run time: 12 hours/day

I think my chem is on point. I do a decent job maintaining the free chlorine. I've cleaned and shocked the pool, but it still comes back.

I wonder my filter may have something to do with this. I've noticed that after back washing and recharging the pressure doesn't ever exceed 12 lbs of pressure. Last year, that wasn't the case. After recharging, it would slowly move up. This year, I've been recharging by how much time has gone by. I've recharged once a month since may.

I think that covers it. I'm really looking forward to hearing from all the smart pool peeps out there. Please let me know, I know you will, if I missed any info that is needed.

WELCOME TO TFP!!!

The cause:
You let your FC get too low for your CYA.
Use this and keep your FC at the top of the range for your CYA. Link-->FC/CYA Levels

The cure: Follow the slam process to clear the pool. Link-->SLAM Process

Like said above… algae means chlorine was too low.
