It's been two days since we installed our thru the wall hayward skimmer on our pool and I'm not sure it's what I expected. We have a 16x48 and this is our third season. We rigged the intex over the wall skimmer so that it would stay put and it did a FABULOUS JOB! My biggest complain was that it was in the way of kids playing and I always had to make sure to get the basket and blue thing out of the pool or everything came back out as soon as pump turned off.

Fast forward to today and The thru wall skimmer is working great at moving water but I see leaves and debris mostly float around. The pool is going around super fast after changing skimmer and eyeball jet. I let it run 12 hours tonight hoping to find it cleaner than tonight.

Any tips? I will not admit this to my husband lol.. we spent days figuring out where a leak on the skimmer was and scrubbing the cap out of our pool. Maybe we need to fill it more or lower the water

I understand you have the thru-wall now, but did your over-wall skimmer not come with an arm for metal frame pools?

As for the thru wall on a pool that size, you will really have to watch the level. You want the water level about mid level of the opening.

It did BUT we figured a way to rig it so it wouldn't pop up. To get the over the wall intex skimmer to work we took the blow up ring pool adapter and put it backwards outside a pole then held it all on with a clamp. It worked AMAZING when it was on and it never popped up but it was annoying with the kids.

Thank you! Stuff seems to be getting collected just not when I'm staring at it. Hahaha! But I'll play with the eyeball position and see what works best. I will say our pool never spun this well!!!

Now I justy have to figure out where the sand at the bottom is coming from.
