Help pump broken and green algae!

Yesterday my son and I started our pool opening for the season. We had all the piping, fittings and filters in place turned on the pump and water was spewing out from under the pump. My neiggbor came over and said possibly one of the "O" had deteriorated. He took the pump apart as far as we could go; all the rings looked fine, we could not reach the interior valve. So I had to order a new pump will not arrive until Wednesday or Thursday. My issue is I have a green algae attack in my pool, first ever, thank you warm Winter. Is there any product I can drop in the pool to start killing this stuff without the need of a pump for circulation? I dont want to be any further behind the 8 ball as I am now, as it is supposed to be warm here in Virginia this week. Any ideas and thoughts?
