Help please, Filter not sucking in Water

Hello,

Being a first time pool owner has not been the best experience for me. My port valve lever snapped off and I ordered a new one, (please see picture). I replaced the broken one and put the new one on along with the rubber seal. Now my pump will not pump in water through the filter, I tried back washing to get water in but its not working its trying to pump but wont. What did I do wrong?

Im brand new, how would i do that? so probably not lol

Just googled it...Will do now...keep you posted

Take the lid off the pump basket and run the water hose in there. What I do is get it as full as I can and then quickly put the lid back on and start the pump.
