Liquid Chlorine
I have been reading other posts and note that trichlor has cya. My pool store recently recommend I go with liquid shock as it has no cya.. However continue to go with the pucks that have cya? Seems like a never ending cycle. How does one maintain daily chlorine in between shocks with liquid? Use more liquid chlorine to maintain daily chlorine levels? How do I know how much to add and how often? I am presuming my inline chlorinator for tabs should just be shut off? Very confused here any advice is appreciated .

Hey neighbor! Welcome to TFP. Simply put ... you feed your pool just like a pet - everyday. Bleach (aka liquid chlorine), has no stabilizer. I have a few bottles of regular Bravo bleach from HEB and I add about 1/2 gallon to my pool each evening. Easy stuff. How do I know how much to add? See the Chlorine/CYA Chart link below in my sig (don't forget to update yours too). Based on your CYA level, that's how you know the correct FC level.

Still have questions? Checkout the other vital links below, and most importantly, if you don't already have a TF-100 test kit (or Taylor K-2006C), make that priority #1 and add it to your sig as well. Hope that helps.

Welcome jb48560

It may all seem pretty obnoxious at first but you are about to take your pool to a whole new level! I made the jump this year and I could not be happier. Once I slowed myself down and really thought all of this information through it clicked. I am hoping you will experience the same.

Like Texas Splash suggested, get 1 of the 2 test kits, this way you will always know what is going on with your water. Just about everyone here can help once you can tell them what the readings are, and the testing is easy to do.

The signature part really helps the pros out too, lets them know what equipment you have, each set up has variables (Above ground, Inground, Fiberglass, Vinyl, Plaster, filter type) that this crowd knows like the back of their hands.

Can't wait to see your victory,
