Hi folks, today was plaster day and everything looked great. We have a raised spa along with the pool so we started filling both simultaneously using the bicarbonate method. Shortly after, we had to switch out the hose that was in the spa as it wasn’t working correctly. After doing so, we noticed a stain on the seat of the spa. I attached a picture. It definitely wasn’t there before filling and our PB doesn’t know what it is. Any thoughts? We are continuing to fill and hoping we can fix it after the fact because we obviously can’t stop mid fill. The only thing that changed was the hose briefly being switched out. It was a yellow hose, but the stain looks like an orange splash so I don’t think it’s color leeching off of it. Could moving it and water splashing onto the seat have caused it? We are adding Startup-Tech to the water barrel and it’s orange, but it wasn’t poured directly into the spa. Any help or feedback is greatly appreciated.

May be a little late but, Aside from dealing with the new stain as Tex mentioned- wrap the hose end in a towel when filling so it doesn’t rest on the plaster & the water doesn’t all rush across one spot directly on the plaster.

Yeah we did that so I don’t think it came from the hose end.

Pool is still filling and currently looking at where to buy that now so we can try it.
Gotcha. :goodjob: FYI - Just your regular Vitamin C tablets from any retail pharmacy location like Walmart, CVS. etc.

So we got the tablets and rubbed 4 on the stains but they didn’t fade or disappear at all. Watching some YouTube videos, it should be pretty instant to see results, no?

We haven’t tried crushing some up and leaving them in a sock to sit on it, but I figured with rubbing 4 on it we should have seen something.

After doing more research on here, since this was part of filling and the hose was resting there, as well as a spot that showed up around our door mat into the house, we’re beginning to think this is red clay marks form the soil. The mark in the pool, was probably from some dirt on the hose that dissolved off and made a mark.

I saw a thread from a few years ago that said “Krud Kuttdr red clay stain remover” was the best for pool decks. But two problems: 1) this doesn’t exist anymore and 2) not sure if you can use that inside the pool

Is there any other suggested things we can try?

Give the crushed tablets a go. When they are a powder it is more effective.
You don’t need many (maybe 10) - an ankle sock will work well to put them in. Get the sock wet & squishy & apply.
