Ok so I opened late this year (5/17) and it was dark green. So I started the SLAM and 24 hours later it was a cloudy pale green. 9 days later it still pretty much the same. Visibility has improved about 1 ft from about 4 ft to now about 5 ft.
I did have some issues with SLAM at first as FC levels went to almost 0 really fast during the day but we're mostly unchanged overnight. Took me a bit to realize that was probably due low/no CYA and a test confirmed my hunch (no reading so < 30. Probably close to 0). Ibwas effectively shocking/slamming every night nut couldn't keep up during the day. Trying to SLAM without CYA is a very expensive endeavor.
Anyway I have been filtering 24/7 since 5/17 except a few hours 5/25 when I took the filter apart to inspect and replaced the sand. I added a solo cup worth of DE to the filter when I replaced the sand.
SLAM has been continuous since evening of 5/23 and no progress made this weekend.
This is the second time this pool has been green and the first time it went blue but cloudy fast then a few more days of filtering before it was clerr. Am I missing something here or am I just not being patient enough? Metals in the water have never been an issue before so I don't think that is it.
RE CYA I haven't done a new test as I am waiting on more reagent. I am assuming it is 40 but might be 20-30. I have added 5 lbs of dry stabilizer (hth) since opening.
