Hello fellow TFP friends. I'm Nick, from Kuala Lumpur, capital city of Malaysia. We bought a house that came with an in-ground pool. Lack of pool maintenance knowledge led me to google for answers and using the pool math app, eventually to this forum! I must say, the app is super useful, but of course only if you know the amount of water in your pool! Which was the first thing I learnt here. This pool was maintained by a third party operator before. Seeing how many of you are doing it yourselves, I figured I should join in the fun!
If i got my measurements right, this is a 16000 gal / 60k litre pool overflowing into a balancing tank; the main pool has a few return jets and main drain but no skimmer. (i believe the balancing tank is acting as a skimmer? the floating debris will go in to the balancing tank due to the direction of the return jets). I have learnt so far from previous operator to vacuum the pool (to filter) twice a week, skimming manually everyday to remove floating debris, filter backwash and rinse every fortnight.
To me, the hardest part is to balance the chemicals, with limited access to test kits. I have bought a OTO / Phenol test kit and realized perhaps i need a more "in-depth" tester with CYA and alkalinity test as well..
I look forward to learning from all of you!
