HI all - my name is Peter, I am glad to have found this place as it looks like an amazing resource!

We relocated at the start of last year from dreary old London England to warm and sunny Charlotte NC! So far, no regrets at all!
The house we bought last year came with an inground pool. Its Gunite, about 5 years old, 20k gallons (I think - it's an odd shape - so god knows how I accurately calculate that??) and is chlorinated.

I have had a pool guy looking after it until recently, with him coming every week in the summer and every other week in the winter, but he has recently gone AWOL (and was charging an arm and a leg) - so I have decided to make a go of it myself.

I will, no doubt, have a million questions most of which I am sure will have been asked a million times - so please accept my apologies in advance and I promise to do my best using the search function!

I look forward to meeting you all

P.

Helloooo Snazza! Welcome to the US and Trouble Free Pools
You can easily learn to manage the pool yourself, I promise. This website is all about owner management, even if some use a pool guy, the owner still does the decisions and manage it using TFP advice.

Hey Pete and Welcome !!!
I will, no doubt, have a million questions most of which I am sure will have been asked a million times - so please accept my apologies in advance
You and me are gonna have problems if this is going to be your thinking.

On the contrary, I *encourage* you to ask. Big, small, silly, or anything in between. It's like this. Searching is great. But you won't realize that the thread you're viewing has things about it that don't apply to you. So you'll end up doing something that you didn't need to. Or if you do something you're unsure of, you can create multiple problems. Don't worry, we'll help fix those too. But it's far preferable for all parties if you only have a single issue. :)

Never. Hesitate. To. Ask. (y)

That's a heck of a move. Welcome to the USA and TFP! And don't hesitate to ask questions, this is the least aggressive forum I've ever seen about the Search function. :)
