We bought our home in 2004 and can update the inside only so much. It's time to work on the outside. Growing up we always had pools and the neighborhood pool in our HOA isn't cutting it these days. Too many people that don't respect a public watering hole. I have been researching pool ownership for a while and met with 7 PBs this summer.

This forum is really incredible and it seem to be a friendly, knowledge filled space. Looking forward to reading, learning and eventually contributing.

HI! Look at you with your siggy already filled out!! NICE job!

Here is some "light reading" to get you started. This is the corner stone of TFP. It is a lot of info. It will take some time and rereading to sink in. Once you start using it things will start to click:

Pool School - ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry

I see you have the Nature2 quik Pure Ozone listed. I invite you to do some research and reading on here to see why I see it as not needed AND could cause more problems than good. Here is a link to one thread to get you started:

Alternative sanitizers and pools--The Truth!!

I would love to see your design. Please think about starting a thread in Under Const.

Appreciate the warm welcome....I removed the ozone....Took it off the contract once I did the research a few weeks back. I have a Jacuzzi J-335 that has an ozone with a mineral cartridge at the house. I think the combination of those two items in a 400 gallon tub is effective in a small environment. That mineral cartridge doesn't last as long as they say. I have to feed the chlorine into the tub as the minerals age into the 3rd and 4th month. Let's face it .... the tub will be the red headed step child as we build this gunite glory pond. : )

Once I get my bearings on the dig time I will certainly post my design in the Under Construction section. As I learn to manage my pool we will lessen the reliance on traditional PB suggestions and migrate to the TFP method.

Welcome Joshua!

You are lucky you found this place before building...I stumbled on it after the build was complete. Take advantage of their advise as they are well traveled...

I would suspect that the advise will be to ditch one/both the Nature2 and the Rainbow 320 Chlorine (I'm not sure what the purpose of having both is as I thought they both were depositories for chlorine tabs..). I have a Nature2 which I use for tabs. I have removed the cartridge to prevent problems with the metals. I'm looking for a reliable source/price for liquid chlorine but have not been successful yet.

Lot of great ideas here. Best of luck in the build process.

I do like the tablet dispenser being inline for vacations and weekend get aways. I do not care for the floaters as they can get caught in one spot and could cause problems from that. All of the other times it can sit empty.
