Howdy everyone.
Looking for some feedback or input here.

Over the past few months, I have noticed an increase in dust/pollen/stuff at the bottom of my pool. I've tried different things to remove it, but no luck. When I run my robot (Nautilus Dolphin s200) and check the filter after it completes its cycle, very little debris is in the filter basket. Making me think it something extremely fine. I have also tried brushing the pool while the pump is on with hopes that this stuff would make its way back to the pool filters, but again, not much of a change. Lastly, I started using hair nets in my skimmer baskets to help reduce debris in my mine filters, but still, no changes. I cleaned my filters about 2 months ago, but this was also the same time that I began using skimmer hair nets.

I found this thread below and figured I needed to do an OCLT.
Did mine last night. FC level was at 5 last night and this morning, it was still 5. SWC was unplugged. Testing with TF-Pro Salt Test Kit. So, based off what I've read, since my FC level did not drop by 1 or less, hopefully this means that is nothing growing inside my pool, right? (I hope). So no need to SLAM? Or should I still attempt a SLAM to see if it addresses my issue?

Anything else I should be trying?
All my other levels are in line as well.
Appreciate all the help/feedback!

Passing the OCLT suggests that this substance may not be primarily of an organic nature. From what I've read, you folks have had some terrible weather. So, could this be dust? One possible solution would be to vacuum to waste if this stuff is too fine for your filter system to catch. It is a bit of a waste of water, but doing a corner of the pool might indicate what works and what doesn't.

Yup, some bad weather here lately. Think this issue has just been festering for some time and now its worth addressing.

Interesting, never knew that had ultra fine filters for the robot. I was actually thing about rigging something up with a hair net on the inside! But these might be worth trying.

I found one of these on amazon and question it's ability of fixing my issue

What are your pump runtimes?
Pump start and end times?
SWG percentage?

Verify what salt cell you have. Your signature indicates a Hayward T5 cell (rated for a 20k gallon pool).
If you have a T5 cell, it's too small for your almost 25k gallon pool/spa combo.

Post a full set of current test results from your TF-Pro Salt - and add your test kit info to your signature.

Pump run time:
4am-9am: 5 hours. Prefer to run at night to help keep the pool cooler in summer months.
5pm-7pm: 2 hours.
7 hours total.

SWG
good catch, not sure why I had that one linked in my signature. Mine is TCELL940. For 40k gal pools

As of last Friday....
FC = 5
CC
pH = 7.4
TA = 60
CH = 375
CYA = 50
Salt = 3,100
Water temperature = 82*

Having no filtrarion from 9am to 5pm (8hrs) and from 7pm to 4am (9 hrs) may be part of the issue.

At what time of day are you testing your FC?
It's possible your FC may be dropping below minimum prior to your SWG being on.

You will be better served by raising your CYA to 70 from spring thru summer and into early fall.

What RPM are you running the pump at?
Chances are you can lower your pump RPM and run for a longer period of time to better skim amd filter your pool water.

I run 24/7 - 1200 RPM for 20 hours and 2900 RPM for 4 hours. My SWG produces chlorine a little at a time for the entire 24 hour runtime. 1200 RPM provides adequate skimmimg and 2900 RPM allows my IFCS to clean the pool. Running 24/7 costs less than $20/month. I'm in AZ where our daytime temps exceed 105 routinely in the summer. I haven't noticed an appreciable difference in the pool temp if running the pump only at night.

Ya, good point.
Honestly, my main issue for doing it at night was to reduce daytime run time and heatig up the pool. Then that continued on into the winter to reduce freezing issues in Dec-Feb.
Might be worth running it for a few hours during mid day.

As for CYA, I think I added enough to get to 65, but my reading was 50ish. Good call out. I try to stay in that 60-70 range typically.

For pump speed, I run mine at "medium" for all schedules. Not sure of RPMs, could look into that. Could try what you're trying to see if that helps out.
Again, thanks for the feedback. All worth trying!
