I have a Teledyne Laars heater (model LLD325P) which is really only used to heat the hot tub on my pool when I wish to do so. I live in Florida so otherwise heating my pool is unnecessary. The heater is 25 years old (pool was installed in 2000). We don' the hot tub often, but I like to test it out every now and then. It is a propane heater.
My panel has two sides, "Spa" and "Pool". One side has not worked for years, while the other has typically functioned well. When I tried most recently, I noticed I was unable to get the tub over about 101F. I tried moving the thermostat knob past the mechanical stop, which was easy to do. This actually got my temperature to 101F (it was lower before that), but I was unable to get any higher.
My belief is that a "new" panel would fix the issue, as the heater seems to be working except it does not get as hot as desire. I have looked on eBay, etc. but have been unsuccessful in finding anything. I called the local "expert" and he came over and then looked for the panel at the supply store he uses, where he said he could get one but it would be over $600. No thanks for a 25 year old heater.
So, two questions.
First, does anyone have a suggestion for where I might find a replacement (see photos) at a "reasonable" price?
Second, seeing how the heater is 25 years old, replacing it is most likely where I am heading (though, as we don't use it much, if I can find the panel at a reasonable price, I might try it), what brand/model would people recommend for a replacement? Propane gas, and it is really only used to occasionally heat up the hot tub to 103-104F.
